Your nappies will be more efficient and longer lasting. Before use, wash nappies and booster inserts so they can reach their full absorbency potential. It can take up to 10 washes to reach maximum absorbency. To ensure your baby’s nappy doesn’t leak, ensure a snug fit around the legs and tummy. Change the booster insert regularly, usually every 2 to 3 hours, depending on your baby's needs. Two boosters may be necessary for long days and nights. When you notice a booster insert becoming less absorbent, they may not be completely dried after washing or it’s time for a strip wash. Using a disposable liner inside the insert booster makes washing the insert boosters much easier. Simply flush away waste from disposable liner and place wet nappy and booster insert in a bucket with a lid until washing day. Do not soak nappies and booster inserts for longer than two days. Washing – Use a cool to warm wash, definitely not above 30 degrees. Only use ½ to 1/3 of the normal amount of detergent you would normally use. No added bleaches or fabric softeners please. Drying – Sunshine is always best to keep them fresh and sanitised. A light tumble dry is OK as well. The 6 Layer Boosters need longer to dry. After line drying, throw them in a dryer for a while to ensure the inner layers are completely dry or absorbency may be compromised. Strip Washing – A build up of detergent and nappy creams can cause your booster inserts to be less absorbent, develop an odour or begin leaking. This is the only time you should do a strip wash. Regular strip washing ruins the booster inserts. Strip Washing Method - Place clean and dry booster inserts in a hot wash with half a cup of bi-carb soda and half a cup of white vinegar. Follow with a normal wash without any detergent. If there are still soapy bubbles while washing, continue with a rinse cycle until there are no more bubbles It may be necessary to repeat the hot wash cycle with no detergent, and then more rinse cycles, until the water runs clear. Line dry in full sun. Bamboo is the perfect material for cloth nappies. It is highly sustainable, hygienic, soft, absorbent, breathable, and economical. As plants make food with carbon dioxide, water and sunlight, and bamboo grows so fast, it is removing a lot of carbon dioxide from the air and helping keep our planet healthy. As a fabric, bamboo plants require very little water compared to cotton (it takes up to 20,000 litres of water to produce 1kg of cotton). Its antibacterial properties mean bamboo plantations rarely require pesticides, fertilizers or nutrients. Growing bamboo is considered a very clean and sustainable industry. Disposable products that perform the same job can take hundreds of years to biodegrade due to the plastic contained in the product and are quickly filling landfill. Healthier and HygienicBamboo isanti-bacterial, anti-fungal, deodorising, and hypoallergenic. Its anti-bacterial qualities come from a bacteriostatic agent unique to bamboo plants called Bamboo Kun which also helps bamboo resist harbouring odours. Tests have shown that when left to incubate on bamboo fabric, bacteria is reduced by more than 70 per cent. Bamboo has natural deodorising qualities and is perfect for people with skin sensitivities due to the lack of chemicals in the production process. Bamboo is easily laundered in a clothes washer and dryer or hung on the line for maximum bacteria control and freshness. Economical Bamboo is extremely durable, able to withstand hundreds of washes, eliminating the need to purchase thousands of dollars of disposable products that do the same job. One Bamboo cloth nappy or pad will last as long as 150 disposable products. It is priced reasonably on the market due to its high growth volume and is one of the most economical eco fabrics available today. Using bamboo products over disposables products save you $1000's a year. The Process of Charcoal Bamboo FabricBamboo is processed from mature plants, over 5 years old. It is burned in an oven up to 1200°C. The charcoal is then ground and filtered into nano-sized particles. The nano particles of bamboo charcoal are doped into the fibres, manufactured without any bleach, in a closed loop process. The fibres are then spun into yarn.
